«Boat» is so far a solo performance told from a beautiful and luxurious bathtub in a monochromatic royal blue room. The story is about a fleet for freedom on a tiny fisherman's boat. An ex-paratrooper, his three kids, his wife, and the unborn child she was carrying make the Vietnamese family from the south that the story is about. The unborn child is me, and the bathtub is my boat, a time machine, and a portal to another dimension as well. I was born in a refugee camp in Hong Kong, then raised in Denmark, where we were granted asylum. This part of the story is a miracle. The odds were lowest when my mother lost her grip of the latter and fell into the deep sea. The waves caused the little boat to bump into the big ship, and luckily we caught the opening and not the in-between.
